2013 Guidelines for Applicants to the EU Interdisciplinary Research Program, the Academic Minor Program of the Hitotsubashi Graduate School of Law
With the aim of providing an opportunity to acquire expertise in the EU, the Graduate School of Law offers the academic minor program, EU Interdisciplinary Program, as of the school year 2013. We invite graduate students to enroll in the program and look forward to receiving applications.
1. Eligibility for the program
Students entering the master’s, doctoral, or professional degree programs of the graduate schools of Hitotsubashi University in 2013.
2. Number of students admitted to the Program
Around 10
3. Registration
(1)Students wishing to register for the EU Interdisciplinary Research Program must submit a Registration Request for the EU Interdisciplinary Research Program (attached Form 1) to the Educational Affairs Section 2, Educational Affaires Division, Department of Academic Affairs (1st floor of the main building on the West Campus).
(2)Registration Period
Friday, April 5 to Wednesday, April 10, 2013
4. Courses, number of credits, and periods
Please refer to the attached List of Courses for the EU Interdisciplinary Program.
5. Enrollment in the Program
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of openings for students in the Program, we will select students via interviews. All students wishing to enroll in the program are required to attend the first EC Workshop class (on Wednesday, April 10) for an interview. We will inform those students who did not pass the interview at a later date.
6. Program Completion Period
The Program must be completed by the time each student completes the major program in the graduate school.
7. Enrollment Procedures
Students who have enrolled in this program as an academic minor must complete the enrollment procedures in the graduate school of their major by the date designated separately.
8. Requirements for completion
Students enrolled in this program shall be certified as having completed the academic minor only after fulfilling the following requirements by graduate program and the completion requirements designated by the graduate school of their major:
A) Master’s and Professional Degree Programs
Required Courses
EU Workshop: (meets every other week for half year, 1 credit) x 4 course hours = 4 credits
EU Research Skills I: (half year, 2 credits) x 2 course hours = 4 credits
EU Research Skills II: (half year, 2 credits) x 2 course hours = 4 credits
Compulsory Electives
From among the courses offered in the EU Interdisciplinary Research Program other than the above and the courses offered at Keio University, whose credits are transferable to our university: 2 credits x 2 courses = 4 credits
Total: 16 credits
B) Doctoral Program
Required Courses
EU Workshop: (meets every other week for half year, 1 credit) x 6 course hours = 6 credits
EU Research Skills I: (half year, 2 credits) x 3 course hours = 6 credits
EU Research Skills II: (half year, 2 credits) x 3 course hours = 6 credits
Total: 18 credits

9. Application for the Certificate of Completion
Students enrolled in this program are required to submit an Application Form for the Certificate of Completion of the EU Interdisciplinary Research Program (attached Form 2) to the 2nd Educational Affairs Section, Educational Affairs Division, Department of Academic Affairs (1st floor of the main building on the West Campus) at the time when they have a fair prospect of fulfilling the completion requirements of the Program.
10. Certification of Completion and Granting of the Certificate
Based on the application described above in #9, the Graduate School of Law Committee will determine the status of completion of each applicant and grant a Completion Certificate (attached Forms 3 and 4) at the time when a degree is conferred to the applicant at the graduate school of their major.
