We introduce following three courses in the curriculum for graduate (Master and Doctoral) students:
-
Legal Research and Writing
Will practice to gain academic legal writing skill in English in which students are encouraged to submit work for publication in an internationally renowned journal before graduation;
-
Oral Communication Skills
Each time, a student, a faculty member, or a guest speaker will make a presentation in English, followed by the discussion in English.
-
Teaching Law and Legal Culture
Will provide theory and practice of Japanese law with the legal culture, from a relative perspective to understand Japanese law as a part of the world legal system.
Each class will not be a one-way lecture, and value interactive discussion and practical training. For the purpose to gain practical skills to teach Japanese law in a foreign language, students are encouraged to study abroad.

We will organize a conference by the fiscal year end of 2006 (by March end of 2007). At the conference, we invite graduate students from our program and from overseas to make presentation on each research topic in English, followed by the discussion. Details will be posted as determined.

Program staffs will write a book in English about Japanese law. Basically, it will model after the currently available book in Japanese, which covers various areas of law with insightful analysis authored by the faculty members of the Hitotsubashi University Graduate School of Law. However, the book in English should be different from the Japanese version because it will be written for non-Japanese speaking readers. |
